LIFE CHANGING PROJECTS
I have been involved in design projects since I was a teenager. I have now led hundreds and hundreds of design and build projects over the years. They range from simple to complex, micro objects that fit in your hand to 5 story structures, simple parts, moving assemblies, and motorized devices. From mechanical through to electrical and electronic devices, and all combinations of the above.

One thing to note is that these aren’t just designs that look good on paper, they are designs that I have produced or manufactured and actually work. Examples of some of the projects I have led as the Senior Designer & Engineer include:

-
Development of a mind-controlled user interface system fitted to an off-road dune buggy to enable a young man with high level Cerebral Palsy to fulfill his dream of being able to drive a car. This mind controlled buggy was featured on an ABC Catalyst documentary called “Becoming Super Human”.

-
Design of an aftermarket conversion kit to turn a standard Segway into a device that can be used as a two wheeled off-road mobility device replacing the wheelchair.

-
A five story tall wheelchair accessible abseiling tower and custom abseiling wheelchair to enable people in wheelchairs to go abseiling.

-
A range of custom sit skis for the Disabled Water Ski Association

-
A robotic mouth painting art easel that enables a quadriplegic to mouth paint on their own without needing assistance from a career, including moving the canvas and changing paint colours.

-
An entire fleet of custom bicycles for people with disabilities. Over 60 base models and thousands of variations to enable pretty much anyone to be able to ride a bicycle no matter their disability.

-
An automatic fishing casting system that enables fishers with disabilities to cast and reel their own line independently. An optional scanning graphical interface enables the entire unit to be controlled with one button or switch enabling people with very high level disabilities to participate in fishing.

-
A seated surfboard setup so that disabled surfers can surf sitting down.

-
A range of archery aids including a laser targeting and audio feedback system for archers with vision impairments

-
A wheelchair mounted tennis ball launcher to enable a quadriplegic to play fetch with his dog.

-
A walking frame combined with a cane enabling someone with a vision impairment to use both aids simultaneously.
